‘Ford v Ferrari’ on HBO: Matt Damon’s Sunglasses Are the New Chris Evans Sweater

Gambar
It's a common misconception that Ford v Ferrari—which is airing on HBO on Saturday at 8 p.m. ET—is a very well-made, 152-minute long car commercial. In fact, Ford v Ferrari is a very well-made, 152-minute long sunglasses commercial, courtesy of Matt Damon's very good sunglasses. To be clear: I'm not mad about it. Not one bit. This 2019 drama about the Ford car that defeated the Ferarri in the 1966 Le Mans race in France is, as I said, very well made. It was nominated for four Oscars, including Best Picture. It features Christian Bale doing a British accent, for once, and many exciting vroom-vroom scenes.  It's a fun watch. It also really made me want to track down and purchase the beautiful, devastatingly cool sunglasses worn by Matt Damon's character, Carroll Shelby. I mean, look at those sunglasses! Look at those golden, slightly translucent frames! Check out that shape—large enough to be practical, but stylish enough to scream "expensive....

Summer Is Sweater Vest Season. Yeah Really—These 11 Options Prove It.

Gambar
Brace yourself, folks, because I've got some big news and you might want to sit down for this one. The sweater vest, that oft-reviled knitwear nemesis of your youth—yes, the one you swore you'd never wear again—is well and truly back. And you know what? I couldn't be more stoked about it. First things first, let me address some of your concerns right off the bat. No, the sweater vests I'm talking about are not the drab, shapeless pullovers you hated wearing as a kid. Yes, they've been duly updated with the bold patterns and brash colors befitting their newly swervy status. And no, wearing one now isn't ridiculous in the slightest. If at first glance it seems counterintuitive to suggest rocking any additional layers in the summer it's because, well, it is. You're not bugging. But the sweater vest's whole schtick is counterintuitive. I mean, how else do you explain away an otherwise normal piece of knitwear ...

Harry Styles’s Cardigan Has Inspired a Crocheting TikTok Trend

Gambar
If you've embraced your crafty side during quarantine, you're not alone. TikTok users are right there with you, showing off their DIY skills with a Harry Styles twist. Over the last few days, a new crafty trend has emerged on the app whereby fans are trying their hand (pun very much intended) at crocheting a lookalike sweater to the one Harry wore during a rehearsal for his Today Show appearance back in February. As noted by Nylon, the oversized patchwork cardigan sweater is by British designer JW Anderson and originally rang up at over $1,600. The vintage-inspired style features squares in shades of bright green, red, orange, and yellow and it's definitely something Harry would gravitate to — what with his '70s glam meets English proper style.  The cardigan in question so inspired Harry fans that they're picking up their crocheting needles and whipping up lookalikes of their own, and honestly? We'd buy them all! In their videos, users detail the process of c...

Edmonton weather: Wetter weather makes sweater better

Gambar
A look at today's Edmonton weather by Environment Canada. Monday morning temperatures at the Edmonton Blatchford station measured 10.5 C with winds blowing at 12 km/h out of the west. If you like rain you're in luck because it looks like we'll get plenty of it over the next four days, and you know what, I'm OK with it. If anything, it should help cool down the house after a couple hot, muggy days this weekend. It's a good morning to crack open the window a little to get that fresh air in your lungs, break out a warm sweater and sip some coffee and/or tea. Not bad at all, actually. The rain should let up later this morning and we are expected to reach a high of 21 C with some sun. My lawn is eternally grateful. Though, I imagine the mosquitoes are, too. Dang it. Today's forecast Today: Showers ending this morning then a mix of sun and cloud. Amount 5 mm. Wind northwest 20 km/h becoming light this afternoon. High 21 C. UV index 6 or high. Tonight:...

Jimmy Fallon is sorry. But what does that mean?

Gambar
While he reviewed plans for that evening's show and heard pitches for future segments, Fallon also riffed on inside jokes with his colleagues and spun stories from his showbiz career, like the time he ran into Richard Simmons, the excitable fitness guru, at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. ("He's wearing short, short, short shorts, sitting on a sequined seahorse," Fallon recalled. "And I'm not kidding, one leg is behind his head.")
